BIOGRAPHY

Jennifer Yeo is founding partner and chairperson of Yeo-Leong & Peh LLC, a law firm she set up in 1987 as Yeo-Leong & Partners. It later became Yeo-Leong & Peh Partnership until incorporation in 2000. The Singapore-based firm also has an office in Shanghai and to date, has a total employee head count of 185.  

Jennifer graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1981 with an LL.B. (Honours) and from Boston University in 1985 with an LL.M. in Banking Law Studies. She won the Outstanding Student Award from the Morin Center of Banking Law. She was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 1982 and is a Solicitor of England and Wales.

Jennifer specialises in banking, corporate, corporate finance and real estate law. She has advised and represented private and public companies and banks and financial institutions in the acquisition, financing and disposal of commercial and residential buildings and assets, land and development projects, public listing, asset securitisation, banking business and operations, joint ventures, acquisitions and corporate agreements. She is on the Council of the Singapore Manufacturers’ Association and is also a member of its External Trade and Investment Sub-Committee. She is also an independent director of Hi-P International Limited, which is listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

She is an approved mediator of the Singapore Mediation Centre and is also on the reserve panel of arbitrators of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. She is Chairman of Disciplinary Committee pursuant to an appointment to the panel by the Chief Justice under the Legal Profession Act. She is also a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

In addition to her professional commitments, Jennifer makes time to champion social causes. One of the charities close to her heart is Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer, which she founded in 2006 and now serves on its Board of Directors. Jennifer served for several years on the Board of Directors of Tsao Foundation and was for more than 10 years on the Board of Governors of Raffles Girls’ Secondary School. She is also the Vice-Chairman of the Council of the South Asia (Singapore Chapter) of the Urban Land Institute, a not for profit organisation in the USA.

Jennifer’s passion for music shows in her many accomplishments in that field. She holds a Licentiate from the Royal Schools of Music in Piano Performing and Teaching and has composed a Malay song, which won a prize in a national song writing competition. She has also performed the slow movements of Chopin’s Number One and Two Concertos with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at benefit concerts. She is literate in English and Malay and can speak Mandarin and Cantonese.

Jennifer is married to George Yeo and they are devoted to their family of 4 children ranging between 13 and 18 years of age. They are a Roman Catholic family.
